A Small & Cozy Cafe In the Peaceful Neighbourhood of Meinohama
Take a short trip to Meinohama along the historic Meiji Avenue and you’ll find Novel Cafe Lily, a cozy little cafe particular about serving the highest quality of coffee.
Lily, the cafe owner and barista, regularly stocks her shelf with specialty coffee supplied by the local coffee roaster Tanaka-san. Tanaka-san annually visits the coffee farms/plantations of coffee-producing countries such as Nicaragua and El Salvador. He directly purchases the coffee from farmers. This is one of the main reasons Lily prefers to have her specialty coffee directly supplied by Tanaka-san since she knows and trusts where the coffee comes from and who chooses the coffee.
Connecting with Customers through Honesty
At Novel Cafe Lily, providing accurate information about the coffee served is a priority and Lily takes great care in labelling and informing the customers about the coffee served, including the Coffee Farm, Farm Owner and the Country/Region. There’s also a picture of the farm owner who takes care of the farm which really supplements the story, trust and care taken in producing the highest quality of coffee.
Together with single origin coffee, Lily adds her own signature touch by creating her own blends which are very smooth and refreshing to the palate. The ‘Meinohama Blend’ is her take on the peaceful and serene neighbourhood of Meinohama. She also creates seasonal blends like Christmas Blend and Valentines’s Blend.
Letting the Coffee Speak for Itself with The French Press
Lily prefers to use the French Press Method when brewing coffee. This method is known to provide the full-flavour of coffee since the oils inside the beans are released to form a layer on the surface which produces an irresistible fragrance. A lot of coffee experts and baristas believe that this brewing method might be the best way to capture all aspects of the coffee at hand. In short, it lets the coffee show its true colour. A perfect way to showcase specialty coffee.
Also, the french press method is one of the easiest ways to brew coffee and can easily be done at home without too much of a hassle.
Oh yes, she’s got some Latte Art Skills!!
Lily is very creative with her latte. She always has something up her sleeve and mesmerises her customers with the beautiful latte art she creates. She also holds Latte Art workshops once in two month for beginners and children; hopefully you might be lucky enough to participate in making your own latte art!!
Her latte art is more emphasised on the decorating aspect of the latte, and she also shows her skills with the free pour latte art. I am always blown away by the beautiful way she decorates her latte, and I think you will too!!
A Cozy Vibe That Makes You Feel At Home
Lily’s artsy and creative touch enriches the atmosphere of the cafe with beautiful decorations, a cozy set-up and very laid-back instrumental music.
I always end up spending a lot longer than originally planned since its such a pleasure to relax and just let time pass by.
If you get the chance to visit Fukuoka and to the West-Ward, take a short trip to Novel Cafe Lily for a peaceful afternoon with some delicious coffee.
