I’m Yu Hamza, and I go by YuTheCoffeeGuide here.
I’m here to give you my story of how all this began.
Back in the fall of 2015, I moved to a city called Fukuoka in Japan.
Little did I know that it was a city filled with many roasters and cafes dedicated to serving really good coffee. I always loved going to cafes, each with its own distinct and unique atmosphere, and the same went for the cafes in Fukuoka.
The only thing different was the coffee. I never thought much about coffee before. It was just one of those staple beverages out there. That image crumbled as I discovered menus serving something more than just coffee. From light roasts to dark roasts, Ethiopia to Guatemala, as well as washed to natural process. Every bit of new discovery hooked me even more to coffee.
Soon I was reading book after book about coffee and their origins, as well as the seed to cup cycle. I never even knew coffee came from coffee plants or that coffee was actually seeds!!
Of course, coffee was one thing that fueled me to start something inspirational, something that would showcase my passion. The other was the people behind coffee.
They say that the Japanese people are a bunch of hardworking people. I don’t know how far that applies but I’ve been able to closely interact with and observe many baristas, roasters and owners of the cafes in Fukuoka.
Let me tell you, they work like crazy. Most work 6 days a week non-stop. And for good reason I guess.
Their passion and dedication towards coffee is astonishing. What’s more, their wish to serve the best coffee for their customers is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever come across.
It’s this passion and dedication that’s lit up my heart. I want to help them, support them, showcase their passion for the many customers and future customers looking for a break of coffee.
That’s how Coffee Lingual came to be.
Lingual means ‘ relating to speech or language ‘ according to Google. You have bilingual, trilingual as well as multilingual. For people who are passionate about coffee, it’s Coffee Lingual.
It’s not just about coffee but the people behind it. The way I like to put it is Great Coffee Because Of Great People. And I’m here to document and share my stories of people who are passionate about coffee.
I wish you a great day and would appreciate your support. Let’s make this website grow 🙂
